What is Sonata?

Sonata is used to treat insomnia which is difficulty falling asleep. Sonata does not help you stay asleep longer or decrease the number of times you awaken during the night.

Sonata is in the class of medications called hypnotics. It works by slowing activity in the brain to allow sleep.

What is Sonata abuse?

Just like with other sleeping medicines there is the possibility of becoming addicted to Sonata.

Addiction, or dependence, is when a person feels like he or she needs to continue taking a medicine.

When a person is addicted to a medicine, the body cannot properly function without it, and withdrawal symptoms can occur if the medication is stopped.

When withdrawal symptoms are experienced, people often feel like they need to stay on their medication just to prevent these symptoms from occurring again.

What are the side effects of Sonata?

The side effects of Sonata include: headache, pain, daytime drowsiness, light-headedness, dizziness, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dry mouth, unpleasant taste, decreased sexual desire, and painful menstrual periods.

What are the withdrawal symptoms of Sonata?

The withdrawal symptoms of Sonata include: grouchiness, irritability, sweating, upset stomach and vomiting, stomach cramps, muscle cramps, shakiness, and anxiety.
