Nembutal Addiction and Abuse

Nembutal addiction and abuse is the subject of this Special Report by Siobahn Morse, the executive director of The National Institute For Holistic Addiction Studies.

What is Nembutal?

Nembutal is in a group of drugs called barbiturates. Barbiturates slow the activity of your brain and nervous system.

Nembutal is used short term to treat insomnia. It is also used as in emergency treatment procedures and to cause you to fall asleep for surgery.

In high enough doses, Nembutal can induce anesthesia, and an overdose can be deadly.

What are the effects of Nembutal?

A person seeking sleep with a barbiturate will find that this sleep is quite different from physiological sleep.

Nembutal can reduce the amount of time a person spends in R.E.M. phase of sleep with a dreaming stage.

Subsequent states of sleep are also decreased, delivering a much less satisfying sleep experience for the user.

What is Nembutal addiction and abuse?

Like all barbiturates, Nembutal can be habit forming.

With continued use an individual can develop tolerance, psychological and physical dependence.

This dependence is often the result of increasing the dose or decreases in dose intervals without consulting a physician.

A person who develops a dependence on Nembutal can easily display signs very similar to those of an individual dealing with chronic alcoholism.

What are the side effects of Nembutal?

The side effects of Nembutal include: confusion, hallucinations, weak or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, weak pulse, feeling like you might pass out, problems with memory or concentration, irritability, aggression, loss of balance or coordination, nightmares, nausea, vomiting, constipation and headache.

What are the withdrawal symptoms of Nembutal?

The withdrawal symptoms of Nembutal include: anxiety, muscle twitching, tremor of hands and fingers, progressive weakness, dizziness, distortion of visual perception, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, orthostatic or postural hypotension, convulsions and delirium.
